The Ultimate Football Excursion – Day 4
Arundel Castle + Arsenal V Coventry
After all the walking yesterday needed to have a relaxing
slow day before the League Cup game between Arsenal and Coventry. Headed to Arundel on the southwest train line – about 100
minutes outside London. Train as usual on time with plenty of seats. Nice
relaxing train ride with time enjoy the scenery or dose (as was the case with
Sam). Arundel Castle is a magnificent site as the train is pulling into the
platform. The Castle itself is only 800 meters from the station and open most
days. We took a quick tour inside but were unable to explore the outside too
much as persistent showers had set in. Next was a very nice light lunch at a
local (quaint) café followed by an up close look at Arundel Cathedral. Would
not have minded a look inside however not sure how keen Sam was and we were
short on time. Back to London by 5pm for an early traditional steak dinner.

Emirates Stadium – Arsenal V Coventry League Cup Game.
Of the three stadiums visited so far Emirates is by far the
best. It is more modern with better seats and amenities. We had excellent seats
for the match. Getting home game tickets for Arsenal is damn near impossible
unless you are member. Only games such as League Cup games go to general sale.
The game was sold out so lucky I did purchase tickets on the day they came on
general sale. As would be expected both sides fielded a number of fringe and
young players mixed in with some experienced regular Premier League players.
The game was pretty even in the first half with Arsenal going to the break 1-0.
In the second Arsenal’s class showed as they began to dominate running out
comfortable 6-1 winners.
